£9.4million could be LOST in unclaimed Lottery prizes – Check YOURS now

BRITS are being urged to check their old Lottery tickets – to see if they can get their hands on MILLIONS in unclaimed prizes.

More than £9.4million in Lotto winnings could be lost if the lucky ticket-holders don’t come forward, it can be revealed.

There are 10 lucky jackpot winners hiding across the UK – who will go into 2021 unaware of their eye-watering prize money.

But Brits with winning tickets may lose their fortune as early as January 18 if they don’t make their claim in time.

Shopkeepers in Walsall, Belfast, and Coventry are still waiting for customers to pop in clutching the £1m EuroMillions ticket they were sold earlier this year.

And four Brits in Sandwell, West Lancashire, and Oldham are still going about their daily lives – unaware that they’re sitting on £1m fortunes.

A cool £9,473,914.10 in prizes is still waiting to be collected – but they are all due to expire by June 2021.

The clock is ticking because Camelot, who runs the Lottery, only allows people six months to make a claim.

And after that, the prize money is dished out to good-causes.

The unclaimed prizes include:

  • TWO lucky £1million Lotto winners who are living in the same town – Oldham, Manchester.
  • Players in the West Midlands are urged to double-check their tickets – with THREE £1million unclaimed prizes hiding in Coventry, Birmingham, and Walsall.
  • TWO punters with winning EuroMillions tickets are in Northern Ireland – one in West Tyrone, and one in Belfast.

After what has been a hard year for many, simply double-checking your old tickets could bring some good news before Christmas.

But it’s not only big winners being urged to check sofas, jacket-pockets and the laundry bin for tickets.

Tens of millions of pounds in smaller prizes – ranging from a tenner to thousands – are waiting to be collected.

Camelot only publicise unclaimed prizes of more than £50,000.

Camelot’s Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, told The Sun: “We’re desperate to find these mystery ticket-holders and unite them with their winnings.

“These amazing prizes could really make a massive difference to somebody’s life, especially in the lead up to Christmas.

THE WORLD’S BIGGEST UNCLAIMED LOTTERY PRIZES

  1. £63.8 million in June 2012, with the ticket sold in the Stevenage or Hitchin area of Hertfordshire.
  2. $77.1 million from a ticket bought in Georgia, US, in June 2011.
  3. $68 million bought in New York, US, in 2002.
  4. $63 million in 2015, with the ticket bought in California, US.
  5. $51.7 million, bought in Indiana, US, in 2002.
  6. $46 million in 2003, with the ticket sold in Brooklyn, New York.
  7. $31 million bought in Queens, New York, in 2006

“We’re urging everyone who bought a ticket in these areas to check their old National Lottery tickets again or look anywhere a missing ticket could be hiding.”

Despite the pandemic and Tier restrictions, shops and local retail outlets remain open for players to check their tickets in-store.

Or you could check online with the National Lottery app with its quick and easy scan section, which can tell you if you’re a winner in just seconds.

The life-changing sum was dished out to a mystery French punter after weeks of rollovers.

Andy Carter added: “By playing any National Lottery game, players help to raise an average of £30M every week for National Lottery Good Causes across the UK.

“This money helps support arts, community and charity, heritage, education, environment and the sports sectors – everything from the local charity making a difference where you live through to helping our nation’s athletes win Olympic and Paralympic gold medals.
