About Ohio Classic Lotto
Ohio Classic Lotto is one of the few American lotteries that hold drawings three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The pools close at 7 pm and the draws begin five minutes later. The jackpot starts at one million dollars and the lottery guarantees a 100,000-dollar minimum increase in prizes each time the jackpot is rolled over.
A ticket costs one dollar and players have to choose between entering their own numbers and letting the Auto Pick feature do the hard work. Either way, players are expected to pick six numbers out of a pool of 49 and they can use up to five Auto Picks for each bet card. For convenience purposes, players are provided with the alternative of wagering once for 10 draws and they can also place an additional bet of one dollar called the kicker. This is an optional game that players can use to enter an additional draw for a prize of $100,000.
Winning any prize in Ohio Classic Lotto comes with relatively good odds of one in 54. This sounds great, but keep in mind that most of the prizes are distributed among lower tier winners.
The odds of winning $70 are one in 1032 and for this to happen, players have to match four numbers out of the 49 drawn. Things become even more statistically challenging as you claw your way up the ladder with five numbers awarding a fixed sum of $1500. The odds of this happening are one in 54,201. Finally, players have one chance in 13,983,816 to win the jackpot.
Ohio Classic Lotto Rules
Players have to guess 6 numbers from a pool of 49, plus a Kicker number if the option is enabled.
Ohio Classic Lotto has a couple of convenient features. One of them is called “Play it Again.” It enables players to use the same numbers for two consecutive draws.
Play It Again tickets do the same for the Kicker number. One thing that players need to be aware of is that Play it Again will not work on a bundle of tickets as only the game wager will be reproduced. On the bright side, the same feature can be used at self-service terminals, which makes it practical and user-friendly.
The Odds of Winning Ohio Classic Lotto
The chances of winning the Ohio Classic Lotto jackpot are one in 13,983,816. The chances of winning the second prize are much better – one in 54,201. Four out of six numbers need to be matched for the third prize and three out of six needs to be matched for the fourth lottery prize to be awarded. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 54.
