did anyone win the mega millions jackpot

Mega Millions tickets worth $1M were sold at 2 N.J. convenience stores. 8 third-prize winners worth $90K total.

The pair of $1 million Mega Millions tickets sold in New Jersey for Tuesday’s monster $865 million lottery drawing were bought at convenience stores in Atlantic and Somerset counties, New Jersey Lottery officials said Thursday.

The lucky tickets were purchased at 7-Eleven on the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City and Lucky Spot Convenience Store on Gaston Avenue in Somerville.

Each matched five numbers but not the Mega Ball.

Did anyone win the Mega Millions jackpot last night? Not on Tuesday (1/19/2021). The jackpot for Friday’s Mega Millions drawing rolls to $970 million.

In addition, there were eight third-prize tickets sold in New Jersey that matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball.

One ticket sold at the 7-Eleven on Route 88 in Point Pleasant is worth $20,000 because it was bought with the Megaplier for an extra $1. The others, valued at $10,000 apiece were bought at the following locations:

  • Key Food on Lincoln Avenue in Glen Rock
  • 7-Eleven on Hackensack Street in Wood-Ridge
  • Shop Rite on Harmony Road in the Gibbstown section of Greenwich
  • Nik Nak Food Mart on Woodbury Turnersville Road in Turnersville
  • Grover Convenience Store on South Street in Freehold
  • Mr. Mike’s Convenience Store on Vauxhall Road in the Vauxhall section of Union
  • Travel Centers of America – Columbia on Simpson Road in Columbia

The jackpot for Friday’s drawing has climbed to $970 million with a cash option of least $716.3 million and will be potentially the third-largest in U.S. lottery history. It could climb above $1 billion if ticket sales are strong nationally.

Tuesday’s winning numbers were: 10, 19, 26, 28 and 50. The Mega Ball drawn was 16 with a Megaplier of 2X.

Other $1 million tickets were sold in Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Mississippi, Pennsylvania and Washington state. A California ticket is valued at $1,401,723. California lottery prizes vary depending on ticket sales and number of winners. They differ from the fixed second prizes offered in other participating states.

In addition, two other Florida tickets are worth $2 million apiece because they were bought with the Megaplier option for an extra $1.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2 each and in New Jersey must be bought by 10:45 p.m. on the evening of the drawing. The odds of a ticket hitting the jackpot by matching five numbers and the Mega Ball are 302,575,350 to 1. Players have a 1 in 12,607,306 shot to win the second prize of at least $1 million by matching five numbers.

The game is played in 45 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Did anyone win Powerball last night? $731M jackpot won by single ticket.

Someone who bought a Powerball ticket in Maryland won Wednesday night’s gigantic $731.1 million jackpot, the fifth largest in U.S. lottery history.

If the Powerball winner chose the cash option, the prize is $546,824,471.89 before taxes are deducted. The win ends a run of monster jackpots for both multi-state lottery games. The Mega Millions, however, continues to climb with Friday’s drawing at an estimated $970 million.

Thirteen tickets, including three in New Jersey, matched five numbers, but not the Powerball, and won the second-prize amounts. Most are worth at least $1 million.

Wednesday’s winning numbers were: 40, 53, 60, 68, 69. The Powerball drawn was 22 with a Power Play of 3X.

The other second-prize winners were in California (2), Georgia (2), Illinois (2), Maine, Maryland, Michigan, and Oregon. The Maryland second-prize ticket is worth $2 million because the winner selected the Power Play option.

Another 122 tickets won third-prize amounts of $50,000 (104) or $150,000 (18).

Powerball prizes range from $4 to potentially hundreds of millions of dollars. Powerball.com

The Powerball jackpot hadn’t been won since Sept. 16, when someone who bought a ticket in Ballston Spa, New York, captured the $94.6 million top prize. Since then, 36 drawings had been held without a jackpot winner until Wednesday night.

The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are 292,201,388 to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers and win at least $1 million, while the odds are 913,129 to 1 of winning the third prize of at least $50,000.

Powerball is played on Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, Washington D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
